It’s fitting the Warren County High School football season ended the day after Halloween. Everything about this season unfolded like a horror story most would watch after trick-or-treating.The once-promising Pioneers ended the year with a 41-35 loss to Cumberland County Jets in a game that featured Warren County committing 21 penalties, four turnovers and losing a 22-point halftime lead. Before the season, the expectations for the Pioneers were to return to the playoffs after a four-year hiatus. The roster had 15 seniors – playing their fourth year under head coach Tommy Johnson – to go along with an abundance of experienced underclassmen to help along the way.
