Warren County Middle School worked in its fourth tennis meet of the year Wednesday as the team played host to Algood.Although Algood won the meet, 4-0 girls and 9-1 boys, there were some bright spots for the up-and-coming WCMS players, many who are new to the sport.“We continue to get better,” said WCMS tennis coach Susan Barrett. “We’re just looking at besting our last performance and getting much-needed experience as our goal right now. Zoe Wilcher and Brayla Mayfield stepped up and both played 2 singles and 2 doubles matches due to several girls not able to be there.”Although it was tough having to play in subsequent matches, it gave the team more experience in a competitive environment.Mayfield came close in her match with Algood’s Julie Martin, losing by 2 games, 6-4, while Wilcher won 2 games against Presley Cagle, 6-2.The boys were highly competitive with Pioneer Cy Reish winning his match over Jesse Allen, 6-4.
