Being back home energized the WCMS basketball teams.
Playing in front of their home crowd for the first time in nearly a month, the Pioneers and Lady Pioneers blasted Shelbyville Monday night. The boys team downed Harris 41-28 while the Lady Pioneers crushed the Lady Eagles 44-7.
Treyton Terry had the hot hand for the Pioneers Monday, scoring a season-high 18 points to help his team improve to 10-6 this season. Terry hit three 3-pointers, including opening the game with two triples in the first quarter.
Kaden Rutledge added seven points, while Chase Newby scored five. Rounding out the scoring were Braylon Grayson and Collin Panter with four points each and Sawyer Seymour with three.
The Lady Pioneers didn’t allow Shelbyville to score until the second quarter while running their record to 8-8. Kyra Perkins and Sable Winfree each outscored Harris on their own, finishing with 14 and nine points, respectively.
Also scoring for Warren County was Bella Pennington with seven, Jaycie Hodges with six, Paige Sweeton with four and Bella Bain and Alexxia Verge with two points apiece.
