By Sunday, coaches Gooby Martin and David Martin will know more about their middle school teams than what the last two weeks of practice could tell them.Coach Gooby Martin and the Warren County Middle School softball team will be holding a playday at the Warren County High School softball field tomorrow, while David Martin will be taking the Warren County Middle School baseball team to Coffee County for three games this weekend.The Lady Pioneers are coming off a season where the team finished third in the Central Tennessee Conference tournament.Warren County returns many of the starters off last season’s team, including starting pitchers Lindsey Cox and Emma Holmes, catcher Abby Hutchins and infielders Livia Walker, Madison Mason and Bailey Martin.With a number of starters returning, the Lady Pioneers have high expectations going into this season.The Lady Pioneers will get the chance to show off their skills tomorrow when DeKalb County, Coffee County and Tullhoma come to town for the Lady Pioneer playday.Warren County will play at 9 a.m. against Tullahoma to begin the day. The Lady Pioneers are also tentatively scheduled to play DeKalb County at 12:30 p.m. and Coffee County at 1:40 p.m.While the Lady Pioneers play at home, the Pioneer baseball team will be heading to Manchester Saturday for two games and going back Sunday for one more.In the second year under coach David Martin, the Pioneers are hoping to make strides this season after having their share of struggles last year. Warren County had troubles late in games last year and will have to replace most of the guys who took the mound last season.
