WCMS soccer shuts out White County

The Warren County Middle School soccer team improved its record to 5-0-1 Monday night, defeating the White County Warriors on the road, 7-0.
The victory extends the Pioneer winning streak to five games and keeps them on top in the conference standings. F.D. de Santiago led all scorers with two goals. Edgar Lopez, John Jackson, Bryan de Santiago, Jerry Mrema and Bryce Redmon contributed a goal apiece for the Pioneers.
“I was able to give some of our bench players some good playing time. Everyone had fun and I was trying to get players that hadn’t scored to score,” said WCMS coach Matt Jackson.
From the start, the Pioneers took control, keeping the ball on the Warrior half of the field. The Pioneers had 16 shots in the first 15 minutes, but didn’t score a goala. F.D. de Santiago finally broke through, scoring a goal, 1-0.
The Pioneers added three more goals before the half was over to take a commanding lead at the half, 4-0. After the half, the game was pretty much controlled by the Pioneers, as it was in the first half. The Pioneers scored three more goals, to add to their lead, 7-0, and were in full control, as time was running out in the match.
The Pioneers were looking to extend their winning streak to six games Tuesday night in their final conference game of the season at home against North Franklin. Results weren’t available at press time.
