WCMS soccer downs White County, 8-0

Domination has become synonymous with the Warren County Middle School soccer team for the last five years. The Pioneers continued the trend Monday in Sparta.

Warren County blanked White County 8-0, stretching its unbeaten streak to four games. The Pioneers are 3-0-1 in their last four games, with a 1-1 tie against Siegel the only non-victory in the span.

“The guys are really starting to gel as a team and I’m excited to see them continue,” said first-year coach Ario Zadeh. “We played strong all game. I was proud of them not letting off the gas and earning the shutout.”

Monday’s victory was assured the first time Warren County scored. The Pioneers didn’t allow a shot on goal, with keepers Brodie Cowans and Will Davis combining to touch the ball just once – a goal kick by Cowans.

On the other side, the Pioneers flooded White County with shots, many which found the back of the net. Edgar Villegas led the charge with two goals, while several teammates also got in on the scoring.

Joan Garcia continued his strong play, scoring one goal and assisting on another – a perfectly placed pass that led to Yesh Picruiz’s goal.
Jordan Ramirez, Jorge Vasquez and Jay Goux also scored, as did defender Sawyer Thompson. Thompson gained possession deep in Pioneer territory and proceeded to move the ball the length of the field and score.

Warren County will have a chance to extend its streak Friday with a road game against DeKalb County. Kickoff against the Saints is set for 6 p.m.
