WCMS second in CTC

Warren County came up one goal short of a Central Tennessee Conference title.

The Lady Pioneers fell in the tournament finals Saturday to Franklin North 2-1, ending what was a very successful year under coach Lyndi Pack.

"I am super proud of how well the team did in the tournament. I could not have asked for more hustle," said Pack, who has served as coach the last two seasons. "This team pushed through the whole time and played until the end. I'm proud to have been able to coach such talented young women."

Warren County won its way into the championship game early Saturday by taking down Shelbyville 4-3. Hailey Simpson and Sable Winfree each had goals in helping the Lady Pioneers advance.

In the finals, Franklin North was able to hold the Lady Pioneers at bay late, defending its home field in the title game.

Following the action, Warren County had four players selected to the CTC all-tournament team. Keeper Callie Jo Roberts was recognized, as were Simpson, Winfree and Carmen Verdel.

Warren County finished the season with a 9-3 record.
