Slippery conditions Monday night didn’t seem to have any effect on the WCMS Lady Pioneer soccer team.Led by two goals from Emory Anish and one score apiece by MaKenna Mason and Calyn Damon, the Lady Pioneers blasted Franklin North 4-0 in the team’s home opener.Warren County (1-1) was coming off a road loss last week against Tullahoma and coach Matt Walker’s bunch was ready to get going Monday, but a day full of showers had left it uncertain if the two teams would get onto the field.Just before game time, the rain subsided and the Lady Pioneers hit the field ready to roll when the first whistle blew.In the opening minutes, Damon was able to hit Mason in the middle of the field to get the Lady Pioneers on the board. Mason took the pass and launched a rocket shot past the Franklin North keeper.Mason’s big shot proved to be the only score of the first half though as the home team went to the break ahead 1-0.Coach Walker rallied the troops at halftime, urging the defense to keep up the aggression. The Lady Pioneers responded by halting every Franklin North attack in the second half and pushing the game into the visiting team’s zone.It was only a matter of time before Warren County would start adding to its lead. The Lady Pioneers took a 2-0 lead when Elizabeth Morrison located Anish open and the team’s top scoring threat promptly placed a shot right over the keeper’s head and into the net.
