The high school Lady Pioneer volleyball team lost a four-set match at home Thursday night to Lincoln County. The Lady Pioneers are now 2-4 for the season and 0-4 in the district.
WCHS head coach Erin Blalock was enthusiastic about her team’s performance. Blalock said, “We had better effort last night. But in the last few points, we missed two serves and hit the ball out of bounds. Those mistakes have to be fixed to win matches like that. It was an absolute blast to watch these teams go back and forth. I talked with the coach from Lincoln County afterwards, and we both agreed it was a fun volleyball match to be a part of. They’ve got a really good team, and we played well against them. I’m pleased with the effort last night, but our kryptonite this week has been too many mistakes. We are looking forward to seeing some different teams this weekend, and hopefully getting in sync to finish out the season.”
KILLS, ASSISTS, DIGS, ACES, AND BLOCKS LEADERS
Ally Beneke led the Lady Pioneers in kills with 15 in the match. Bella Cantrell had 15 assists. Jessie Young had 14 digs. Mia Hobbs had 5 aces and 2 blocks.
