The Warren County High School Lady Pioneer softball team played a doubleheader against the Rhea County Golden Eagles on Tuesday night.
The Lady Pioneers fell to the Golden Eagles 4-0 in game one, and 1-0 in game two, sending the Lady Pioneers to 6-6 on the season. The losses keep the Lady Pioneers winless at home.
Neva Tackett, Abby Hutchins and Hope Mullican got the only hits in game two for the Lady Pioneers. Ashton Whiles suffered the loss, despite dominating on the mound, going five innings and only allowing one run.
The Golden Eagles were the home team in the second game, allowing them to have last bat, which was key in the later stages of the game.
Hutchins hit a double to start the top of the second, but the Lady Pioneer bats went cold the rest of the inning, leaving the game tied, going into the bottom of the inning, 0-0.
The score remained the same until the bottom of the fifth when the Golden Eagles scored to untie the ballgame. The Golden Eagles led off the bottom of the inning with a triple to the outfield, which was followed by an RBI single to win the game, 1-0.
The Lady Pioneers were back in action Thursday night, as they played host to the White County Warriorettes and were looking for their first win at home this season. The Lady Pioneers are currently on a five-game losing streak. Results of the game weren’t available at press time.
