In one night, the Warren County High School softball team let a win slip through its fingers, then snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.The Lady Pioneers started pool play in the Macon County tournament Friday night with a 3-2 loss to Gordonsville, then scored five runs in the top of the sixth to beat the Massac County Lady Patriots from Illinois 5-4.Warren County ended pool play Saturday morning with a 5-4 victory over Livingston Academy.After winning five straight games entering the tournament, which was held in Cookeville, Warren County (7-6) fell flat against Gordonsville.The Lady Pioneers scored two runs in the top of the first as senior Taylor Grissom brought around Lauren Wilkinson and Chelsea Cope, then the offense disappeared. The defense followed. Warren County carried the 2-0 lead into the third until Gordonsville got a break to walk away with a victory.Monica Lane issued a lead-off walk to begin the third inning as her 3-2 pitch missed the mark by inches.
