On Monday afternoon at McMinnville Country Club, the WCHS boys and girls golf teams faced district rival Cookeville.
In team play, the Cavaliers defeated the Pioneers by a team score of 324-341 on the boys side. The Lady Cavaliers defeated the Lady Pioneers on the girls side by one stroke, 187-188.
WCHS coach J.W. Holt had this to say about both teams’ performances against the Cavaliers.
“We didn’t have any one player that played well,” said Holt. “We are still looking for the consistency so we can make it to the region tournament this year.”
Holt added, “We proved early we could beat anyone in our district but we have not continued that direction. We have four weeks before the district tournament. This gives us the opportunity to rediscover the team we were at the beginning of the season.”
The Pioneers and Lady Pioneers will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Crossville to take on Stone Memorial at Bear Trace Cumberland Mountain Golf Course.
Tee time is set for 1 p.m.
