WCHS senior Colton Kretch and the Pioneer golf team are ready to start the season this coming Monday in Cookeville.

Uncertainly swirls around much of the sports world, but golf seems to have avoided the rough.

The Warren County High School golf team is ready to hit the fairway this coming Monday with a three-way match in Cookeville.

The Pioneers will start their season against White County and Cookeville at Golden Eagle Golf Club.

The team will be led by Colton Kretch, the lone senior on the squad. Sophomore Chase Newby also figures to be one of the top performers.

“Chase has been playing a lot of golf this summer, pretty much every day, and he’s really improved,” said golf coach J.W. Holt. “He’s going to give Colton a run for the No. 1 spot.”

Other sophomores on the team are Sawyer Seymour, Alec Johnson, Chase Boley, Isaac Cantrell, Beckam Scott and Jax King. Aiden Miller is the lone freshman.

There are two freshman on the girls team, led by Lauren Slatton, one of the top junior golfers in the area, and Allyson Blalock.
