WCHS girls downed at Rhea County

The Lady Pioneers played an impressive half in Rhea County, but it wasn't enough to pull an upset. After entering the locker rooms tied in a District 6AAA duel, the Lady Eagles took over in the second half to beat Warren County 70-57.

Tyra Wright scored 14 points and Emily Mikkola added 10 in the loss, which dropped Warren County to 9-12 overall and 0-2 in district play.

The Lady Pioneers fought hard in the first half, battling to a 33-33 tie at halftime. Rhea County took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Pioneers 26-12 in the period.

Senior Caylie Sherrell had eight points in the loss, while Kam Nowlin notched seven points. Rounding out the scoring for Warren County was Grace Rains and Beth Vaughn with six points apiece, Hallie Pennington with five and Bri Young with one.
