The Warren County High School baseball program held its banquet Thursday following a bounce-back season for the Pioneers.Warren County, under the direction of first-year head coach Joey Haston, doubled its win total from the previous season. The improvement on the field was reflected in the All-District 6-AAA teams, as the Pioneers placed three players on the first team and two more on the second-team squad.Senior captain Christian Gonzalez, along with junior captain Micah McColloch and senior Caleb Northcutt were each named to the first team. Junior Logan Walker and senior Caleb Underhill both received second-team recognition.Thursday’s banquet was a big night for Gonzalez, as he received a framed jersey, a plaque for being named all-district and was named the J.K. Stanley/Heath “Opie” Morris award winner.The Stanley/Morris award is given to a senior voted by his teammates as the best representative of Pioneer baseball on and off the field.
