WCHS appears destined for rough region
State powers await in proposed alignment
Christian Wilkinson
Returning for his senior season, quarterback Christian Wilkinson could be thrust into a whole lot of tougher competition for his senior season.
Warren County High School fans looking for a favorable regional alignment got no such luck Thursday when the TSSAA released its recommendations for next year. The Pioneers appear headed for a region loaded with state powerhouse football programs from Rutherford County. The recommendations still must be finalized by the TSSAA Board of Control. If approved, Warren County will compete in Region 2, which also includes Blackman, Coffee County, Cookeville, Oakland, Riverdale, Siegel, and Smyrna.Warren County has faced the Murfreesboro schools in the past, but hasn’t played them regularly since the late 1990s and early 2000s. The last time the Pioneers played Riverdale during the regular season was in 1998 when the Warriors beat Warren County 48-0 at Nunley Stadium.
