The 2011 track season is winding down, but two Warren County standouts earned the right to move on to sectionals this week.Junior Amiel Emerson and senior Cody Robinson each qualified for the sectionals by performing well in their respective events in the subsectionals held at Walker Valley High School last Tuesday.Needing a top-four finish to advance, Emerson broke his old school record in the 800 meters en route to finishing second amongst a stacked field.Emerson finished the race in 2 minutes, 2.6 seconds, which bested his previous best. Emerson has held the Warren County High School record time since his sophomore year.Robinson was a dual qualifier for sectionals, as he won the discus event and placed second in shot put.Robinson holds the school record in each throw, but didnt need his best marks Tuesday to advance. Robinsons throw of 1347 blew away the field in disc, while his 4610 toss was enough for second in shot put.By finishing in the top four, the pair of track competitors qualified to move on to Tennessee Tech University for the sectionals.
