Madison Hollis was a dominant force in the circle, helping the Lady Pioneers win the 2022 District 6-4A tourney.

The streak of titles for the Lady Pioneer softball program continued in 2022. Warren County showed off its skills in the District 6-4 tournament, downing Coffee County in back-to-back games to claim the championship.

Warren County has won titles in every completed season since 2017, including a region championship in 2019 and district tournament titles in 2018 and 2022.

The win in the title game was one of the most thrilling of the year for coach Gooby Martin’s squad. Warren County battled from behind 3-0 in the sixth to win, getting a game-winning single from Shelby Roberts to cap a 4-3 victory.

Freshmen Callie Roberts and Addison Smith also had RBIs in the rally, which happened at home and helped serve as+ the starting point to a substate run. Senior Madison Hollis, the all-time leader in postseason wins and one of the best Lady Pioneers in program history, locked down Coffee County in the seventh. Hollis is now playing college softball in Maine at Bates College.

Warren County followed its district title by beating Rhea County 6-2 in the region before falling one game short of state with a loss to Stewarts Creek in the substate.

The Lady Pioneers will be looking to make it six straight years with a title this spring with several of the stars of last year’s district tournament run slated to be back in the lineup.
