Tigers take down Boyd

The ferocious Irving College Tigers sharpened theirs claws before a showdown in Westwood versus the Boyd Christian Broncos. The Broncos put up a fight but could not fight off the offensive attack and the Tigers defeated the Broncos, 31-24.
Trevor Wanamaker for Irving College led all scorers and he dropped in a game-high 18 points.
The second half started with Boyd in the lead by a score of 12-9. Trevor Wanamaker knew it was now or never if the Tigers were going to make a run. The Tigers pounced in the third and Wanamaker led the pack of hungry Tigers with 12 of his 18 points.
The Irving College defense stepped up its presence with more pressure on the ball. Boyd made some bad choices with the ball in the third, but Adam Pistole added four more points for the Broncos. The Bronco defense did not have an answer for Wanamaker in the third.
By the fourth quarter, Irving College claimed the lead at 21-16 and the Broncos were stunned at the Tiger third-quarter performance.
The Broncos came back and went toe-to-toe with the Tigers in the final period. Tanner Wanamaker took over and led the Tiger offense. Irving College just edged out Boyd in the final minutes.
The Bronco offense ran circles around the Tigers in the opening period. Pistole, Young, and Nathan Turner all found their way to the basket in the first.
The Bronco defense kept the Tigers caged early. The game’s high scorer was held scoreless in the first. Austin May was the sole source of offense in the first quarter for Irving College.
In the second, the Bronco offense continued to push forward. Turner slipped past the Tiger defense and two occasions and helped keep Boyd out front.
The Tiger offense escaped after being held through the first. Wanamaker got things going in the second quarter with three points. Abram Stinson and Austin May added to the Tiger total.
