Dream Builders completed a dream season Tuesday night, finishing an undefeated campaign in the girls 7-8 machine-pitch league by defeating Warren Family Practice 22-14 in the championship game of the league tournament.Dream Builders finished the regular season a perfect 8-0, then won three straight games in the tournament to complete the season with an unblemished record.Even switching fields in the middle of the championship game had little effect on the winning ways of Dream Builders. When the sun went down Tuesday night, the championship game had to be moved from Pete Holt Field, which doesn’t have lights, to the smaller Jim Mansfield Field. The new venue seemed to energize Dream Builders as the team responded with a seven-run fifth inning.Dream Builders led 15-14 going into the bottom of the fifth, but Journey Cowan and Shelby Roberts helped put the game out of reach. Cowan completed a 4-for-4 night with a two-run triple, while Roberts’ fifth hit was a two-run single that put Dream Builders ahead by eight.Solid defense by Dream Builders in the sixth ended the game as Warren Family Practice was retired in order. Roberts recorded the first out as she snagged a grounder at first, then Ella Bond threw out the next batter from her pitching position.Sadie Simmons kept the game going by drilling a shot to the fence, but she was thrown out trying to stretch a double into a triple.
