Team Evolution emerges victorious

In girls 10-12 softball action at Hoover Millraney Field, the Southern Girls took on Team Evolution in a battle of two of the top teams in the league. Team Evolution ultimately won the game, 8-5, in a close battle.
Team Evolution used a five-run outburst in the top of the third to claim the victory.
Brooklyn Cope led Team Evolution at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two singles and an RBI. Jazlynn Ward, Regin Grissom and Savanna Duggin added a hit apiece for Team Evolution.
Despite the loss, Dallis Melton led Southern Girls at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a triple, a double and four RBIs. Southern Girls got the scoring going in the top of the first.
Southern Girls got on the board quickly in the top of the first thanks to Melton blasting a 2-RBI triple to the outfield, 2-0.
An RBI single by Cope had team Evolution on the board, 2-1. Later in the top of the inning, Cope scored, after Duggin was hit by a pitch allowing her to score, tying things up 2-2, after one.
Southern Girls didn’t score a run in the top of the second and Team Evolution grabbed the lead in the bottom of the inning, 3-2, heading into the third.
The Southern Girls didn’t go away in the top of the third as they clawed back into the game, scoring two runs courtesy of a 2-RBI double by Melton, 8-4.
Team Evolution broke the game wide open in the bottom of the inning, scoring five runs. An RBI double by Ward had team Evolution up by two, 4-2. Later in the bottom of the inning an RBI by Duggin, a walked batter, scoring a run and RBIs by Mackenna Hillis and Grissom ended the inning with Team Evolution up by six, 8-2.
Southern Girls had a final chance in the top of the fourth to tie or take the lead but managed to score only a run and ultimately lost the game to Team Evolution, 8-5, in a back-and-forth game.
