The Dibrell area will resemble a medieval battle scene this weekend. Bows and arrows will be plentiful as the school holds one of the state’s largest archery tournaments of the year.
Over 400 archers are expected to be on the scene Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 competing for school and personal bragging rights. The Wildcats may very well be one of the teams to beat in their own event.
Dibrell has had a strong showing this year at several tournaments held in the Midstate. The elementary Wildcats have already won three tournaments, taking top honors in Van Buren County, Pleasant Hill and Sparta.
The middle school team isn’t far behind, also winning in Pleasant Hill while taking second in Van Buren County and Sparta.
Dibrell’s middle school team will be looking to earn back-to-back championships in their own event after winning in 2018.
The Wildcats will be vying for titles against as many as 20 teams, many of which will be local opponents. WCMS, Hickory Creek, Bobby Ray, Centertown, Morrison, Irving College and West Elementary will all be represented at the event.
The action begins Friday at 4 p.m. and will conclude around 4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $3.
Top finishers have a chance to move on to the state tournament, which will be held in Mufreesboro March 28-29.
