Lady Pioneers suffer first loss

A feverish comeback attempt fell short Tuesday night in Franklin County as the Warren County High School girls basketball team suffered its first loss this season.The Lady Pioneers trailed by 11 points with four minutes left, but pulled within one in the final two minutes. Clutch free throws by the Lady Rebels were too much to overcome though as Franklin County won 50-45.Warren County (5-1) refused to quit against Franklin County while trying to extend its five-game winning streak to start the year. Senior Jessie Newby had kept the Lady Pioneers close with a career-high 20 points against Franklin County – 16 in the first three quarters – though it was the long ball that got the visitors back in the game.
