The 32nd running of the Dr Pepper Stars and Stripes Fun Run is set to begin at 7:30 a.m. at Court Square Thursday.
The annual July 4 event includes a 5K run or walk or an optional one-mile walk or run.
Event coordinator David Marttala estimates around 70 trophies will be distrubuted to top finishers in each age group, including the 6-foot-tall Danny Stubblefield Memorial Trophy given to the overall 5K winner.
For the second year, trophies will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers in the Master’s division, which includes any runner over 40.
Cost to enter is $15, which includes a T-shirt. Registration for the event will begin at 6:30 a.m.
Over 200 people participated in last year’s event, which starts at Court Square and travels through downtown and by McMinnville Civic Center.
The Stars and Stripes Fun Run is part of a day full of July 4 festivities downtown. The Yankee Doodle Parade will also be held downtown, along with a pancake breakfast and a performance by the Silver and Gold Band.
