Standard 's Bronco of the Month

Boyd freshman Cydney Jane Perry stayed busy in March. She started the month with the Lady Bronco basketball team, then spent the last three weeks splitting her time between soccer and tennis.

The Southern Standard wants to highlight the standout Boyd athletes. Partnering with Kevin Rhoton, we will be honoring a Bronco of the Month throughout the 2022-23 school year. Our March Bronco of the Month is Lady Bronco three-sport athlete Cydney Jane Perry.

It's hard to imagine that Cydney Jane Perry had much time to sleep in March. Between her studies and three sports, there couldn't have been many hours left in the day.

Perry has emerged as one the top athletes at Boyd Christian this year, playing a little bit of everything for the Broncos. She started March with the Lady Bronco basketball team, helping the group make an undefeated run in the NACA tournament to finish the year with 22 wins, then went right into tennis and soccer. She's a prime-time player in both spring sports too; Perry is one of the offensive options for the rebuilt soccer program and is one of the top singles player on the courts for the Lady Broncos.

One of the best things about Perry is her lifelong devotion to Boyd athletics. She's long been a member of the school and all its teams, working hard to keep wins rolling in for the Lady Broncos.

Perry was delighted when she got to join a new team this month after the school relaunched soccer. It's been one of her favorite sports growing up and she leapt at the opportunity to play for the Broncos. Her speed has been one of the bright spots for Boyd, which is still working to find its footing after the program was dormant for nearly a decade.

Her speed also shows up on the tennis court. Perry rarely a ball get past her, while her power and touch are improving every match. Perry will be in action next week for both teams. Tennis plays Monday at Watertown and soccer plays Thursday.
