Local Tennis tournament

The Security Federal tennis tournament will be held June 6-8 at Milner Recreation Center on the David Dunlap Tennis Courts. Deadline to register for the Security Federal tournament is May 31. Singles and doubles divisions for kids, men and women are available. The fee is $20 per division and there is a limit of two divisions for each player. Contact David Dunlap at 273-3635 for more information. 


Soccer kids camp

WCHS girls coach Kimberly Smith will be holding a camp for boys and girls ages 4-14 on June 10-11. The camp will run from 9-10:30 a.m. on both days. The camps will be held at WCHS soccer field and campers will get a free T-shirt as part of their fees. The camp costs $35. For more information, contact coach Smith at smithk@warrenschools.com. 


WCMS tryout dates

The following tryouts are open to students who will be in grades 6-8 in 2024-25 at Warren County Middle School or anyone at a county school (except basketball – only prospective WCMS students can try out in basketball). All athletes trying out must bring a participation form – available on the Warren Schools website – or a parent may fill one out on site. Here are the dates:

Football: Summer workouts (for grades 7-8) will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays now through June 21 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the WCMS practice field. For more information, contact coach Ben Matheney at matheneyb@warrenschools.com.

Cross Country: TBD. Contact Betsy McBride at mcbrideb@warrenschools.com if interested in participating in 2024-25.

Volleyball: May 24 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. (Grades 7-8), May 24 from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. (Sixth Grade). Be sure to wear appropriate clothing. For more information contact, coach Holly Palombo at palomboh@warrenschools.com.

WCHS tryout dates

The following tryouts are open to students who will attend Warren County High School in 2024-25. Athletes will need to bring a participation form – available on the Warren Schools website – to tryouts. Here are the dates:

Cross Country (Boys and Girls): To upcoming WCHS freshman - if you are interested in running cross country for the Warren County High School, contact Kelsea Turner or Jeremy Wilhelm. Please contact either coach by May 31 at turnerk@warrenschools.com or wilhelmj@warrenschools.com.

Golf (Girls and Boys): June 3-4 at 8 a.m. at McMinnville Country Club.

Girls soccer: May 24 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the WCHS soccer field.

Volleyball: May 24 from noon until 2 p.m. at Charlie Dalton Gym.

Girls basketball: May 28 from 8-10 a.m. at Charlie Dalton Gym.

Boys basketball: May 21 from 6-8:30 p.m. (Grades 10-12) and May 24 from 1-3 p.m. (Ninth Grade). 

Baseball: May 24 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. 

More tryout dates will be listed when they become available.

Kyle Turnham Basketball camp

New Warren County High School girls basketball coach Kyle Turnham will be holding a basketball camp next month. The camp will run from May 29-31 from 10 a.m. until noon each day and is open to kids in grades K-8. 

The cost is $60 per child and each camper will receive a T-shirt.

The campers will be instructed by the current high school basketball players and coaches. The camp will include individual skill instruction such as passing, dribbling, shooting and defensive drills. Team skills and individual and team competitions will also be included.

Lady Bronco Basketball camp

Boyd will be holding its second Lady Bronco basketball camp on May 23-24 from 12-2 p.m. each day. The cost is $50 and includes a T-shirt for each participant. It is open to kids going into grades 2-8 (with a max of 25 participants).
