The vital parts of volleyball are serving and service receive. Coach Dena Upton saw her Warren County High School Lady Pioneers excel at one Tuesday during a scrimmage against Grundy County, but the other still needs work with the season approaching. The Lady Pioneers were able to receive serves well, but over 25 missed serves cost Warren County the match. The Lady Jackets claimed victory by winning three of the four sets played.Coach Upton knows her team will face an uphill challenge while replacing the most successful senior class in school history, but she has already seen some signs that makes her optimistic. The team’s service receive, passing and hitting were all plusses coming out of the scrimmage.“Our service receive went as well as can be expected,” said Upton.
