Sweeping sickness through Warren County last week led to the shuffling of schedules in both the county elementary league and at Warren County Middle School. Schools are hoping to get back on track this week, but the decision to send several local schools to virtual learning Monday (as well as last Friday) has put schedule makers to the test.
Currently, the county 5-6 grade elementary tournament in District 1 is still set to start this Friday, Nov. 11 at Bobby Ray (hosted by Hickory Creek) and the District 2 tournament is ready to kick off at Centertown next Monday, Nov. 14, but all that is pending the completion of several games this week.
The schedule already included two matchups on Monday and Tuesday night this week, but the calendar got a little fuller when games from Oct. 27 and Nov. 3-4 had to be moved. Here is a look at what games are on the slate this week:
Nov. 7 – Morrison will travel to Dibrell for a District 2 matchup and Boyd will hit the road to take on West Elementary in a District 1 clash.
Nov. 8 – Eastside is set to face Morrison and West will take on Bobby Ray as scheduled, but there will be an additional game as well. Boyd will face Hickory Creek as a make-up matchup from the games originally scheduled to be played Oct. 27.
Nov 10 – On what is set to be the final day of the regular season, Dibrell will go to Centertown (a make-up game from their postponed games from Friday, Nov. 4) and Bobby Ray will travel to Irving College (making up the missed games from Oct. 27). In out-of-conference play, Boyd is also set to face Cannon County Elementary on the road.
At WCMS, the Lady Pioneers and Pioneers had to postpone last week’s road trips to Tullahoma East and Tullahoma West due to illness. The important CTC matchups already have make-up dates, according to WCMS athletic director Betsy McBride.
The newest scheduled updates will have WCMS traveling to Tullahoma East on Friday, Dec. 2 and going to Tullahoma West Friday, Jan. 6. Always follow the Southern Standard for the latest game times and updates for elementary basketball.
