Pioneers crumble down stretch

When the Warren County High School boys basketball team claimed its first District 6-AAA win Jan. 17 at Rhea County, the Pioneers had to rally from a double-digit deficit in the final two minutes. The Eagles turned the tables Tuesday night at Charlie Dalton Gym.After trailing all night, the Eagles stormed back in the fourth quarter to claim a 49-43 victory and spoil Warren County’s Senior Night.Warren County (7-19) hoped to send seniors Lee Carden, D’Andre League, Kyler Kominos, Lance Kelley, Ryan Jennings and Trace Taylor home Tuesday night with the team’s first home win of the year on Senior Night, but the late collapse by the Pioneers ruined the plan.The seniors had a big hand in building the lead as coach John Dillard started the game with all seniors. Warren County responded by outscoring the Eagles 13-2 in the first quarter.
