Lovers of winter may be enjoying all the snow this week, but athletes are going to chomping at the bit for roads to clear and school to resume so games can be played. Local sports hit a standstill this week as the first winter storm of 2024 paused all games. Fortunately, almost all of the events that were planned for this week have already been rescheduled.
The biggest matchup - a rivalry game between Warren County and Coffee County on the hardwood - has been moved to next Saturday, Jan. 27 in Manchester. Tuesday was supposed to be a chance for the Pioneers to extend their lead in the District 9-4A standings, as well as an opportunity for the Lady Pioneers to try to unseat the Coffee County Lady Raiders at the top of rankings, but now it will be played on a Saturday afternoon. Tip-off will be at 3 p.m.
Warren County is scheduled to play Columbia at home Friday, Jan. 19. A final decision of if that game will be played will be made Friday morning. See the Standard's Facebook page for the latest details when they become available.

The CTC tourney was cancelled due to snow. See Sunday's paper for schedule of the Area 6 tournament, which will feature the WCMS Pioneers and Lady Pioneers.
