It’s hard for the Pioneers to stay hot when spring keeps zapping the area in cold spells.
The Warren County High School baseball team, winners of nine of its last 12 after starting 2-6, is having to shuffle its schedule in hopes of picking up more games this season. Monday’s trip to Lebanon was canceled due to cold, while a scheduled trip to DeKalb County Wednesday has also been canceled due to a scheduling conflict.
Coach Trice Powers didn’t hesitate to add some tests to his schedule in the void of two outings this week though.
The Pioneers will now go to Mt. Juliet Thursday for a 6 p.m. start against the 18-3 Golden Bears. Warren County also added a late-season trip to McCallie. Warren County will go on the road Thursday, May 3 to face the Blue Tornado, with the game also starting at 6 p.m.
Warren County also made a schedule adjustment this Saturday for its trip to Coffee County. The Red Raiders moved the game up to 11 a.m. to avoid conflicting with their prom.
Warren County is currently 11-9 this season and 7-3 in District 6AAA play, good for second place.
