The 26th annual Rotary Classic was held last Saturday at McMinnville Country Club and the event helped raised $8,200 for charitable activities for Breakfast and Noon Rotary.
The tournament divided 26 teams into three flights, with winners coming from each flight.
The championship flight was won by Hank Patton, Whit Taylor, Steve Biles and Corker Deloach, the first Warren County resident to qualify for the U.S. Open. The four-player team finished the 18-hole, par-72 course with a round of 55.
Josh Arron, Tim George, Ryan Tenpenny and Kyle Anderson teamed to win the first flight with a score of 64. A tiebreaker was used to determine the winner as Morris Hobbs, Freddie Davenport, Richard Percell and Jamie Wolfe also shot 64.
Shooting 68 helped the team of Todd Noblin, Clint Moore, Bruce Gipson and Butch Bullen win the second flight.
Hunter Sain proved to be the big hitter of the tournament as he won the longest drive competition on both par-5s, No. 3 and 18.
Michelle Dodson had the most accurate drive on No. 8, finding the middle of the fairway to help her team.
Bruce Gibson made the longest putt of the day, curving in a 26-foot shot on No. 7.
Winners of the closest to the hole competition, which included all four of the par-3s, were Freddie Davenport on No. 2, Buddy Cantrell on No. 7, Dan Kington on No. 14 and Charles Marsh on No. 17.
Tournament director Bill Rogers was impressed with the turnout and hopes next year’s event is just as successful.
“On behalf of both Breakfast and Noon Rotary clubs, we want to thank all the players, donors and sponsors for making this tournament a success,” said Rogers. “We look forward to having everyone back next year.”
