A new season brings new expectations for the Warren County High School softball team and coach David Upton isn’t afraid of challenging his young Lady Pioneers to be the best.“Our goal is to win 20 games and take home the district championship,” said Upton. “We have the potential to pull it off and the opportunity will be there for us to accomplish our goals.”After struggling to a 7-26 record last season, most coaches wouldn’t think a district title would be in the picture, but coach Upton believes his team can make a quick turnaround. His optimism comes from knowing the struggles of last year stemmed from trying to mix in as many as seven freshmen starters. Those players have grown as a unit and formed a tight-knit bond that coach Upton believes is the strongest he has ever seen.“This is the best chemistry I’ve seen on a team.
