Rhealee Johnson and the Lady Pioneers won three games Saturday in the Ravenwood Classic.

The Lady Pioneers added three more wins Saturday while competing in the Ravenwood Raptor Classic.

Warren County beat Lipscomb Academy, Dyersburg and Lexington before falling to Wilson Central 5-0 in the semifinals. With the run of victories, the Lady Pioneers improved to 13-7-1 this season.

“I thought the girls played good all weekend,” said WCHS coach Gooby Martin. “We had the chance to face some really good teams and held our own. They competed hard. I love how we accepted that challenge.”

Wet and muddy conditions didn’t seem to affect the Lady Pioneer offense, which was rolling when the team won its first two games Saturday. Warren County pounded Lipscomb Academy 10-1 and Dyersburg 9-1.

The Lady Pioneers were able to keep up the pace against Lexington, ranked as one of the top A teams in the state. Warren County won 5-3, with RBI singles from Hailey Wood and Ashton Whiles helping to give the team a signature win.

Wilson Central finally slowed down the Lady Pioneers in the semifinals. It was just the second time Warren County has been shut out this season, the first coming March 15 against state powerhouse Siegel.

Warren County was back in action late Tuesday against District 6AAA rival White County. Results were unavailable at press time.

Tuesday’s matchup kicked off a stretch where the Lady Pioneers will play four district games in 10 days.

“Our goal is to finish these last two weeks strong and peak at the district tournament,” said Martin.

Warren County will look to avenge its lone district loss when it travels to Cookeville Thursday. The Lady Cavaliers rallied to beat Warren County 8-7 April 2. Thursday’s game is set to start at 5 p.m.
