It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and the Warren County Middle School Pioneers come bearing gifts with another win on the road, defeating DeKalb County, 38-6, in a rare afternoon game Thursday.
Still undefeated in the 7-8 grade field, Warren County (12-0) seeks to continually improve as it moves towards tournament time. Once again, precision passing and distribution of the basketball saw a clean victory go to the Pioneers as seven players posted points.
Offensively, Pioneer C.J. Taylor is always right at home in the paint, and can hit the outside shot as well making him a double threat on the hardwood as he scored a game-high 13 points. Dante Elam wasn’t far behind with 8 points and Colten Krech, Tyler Taylor and Aiden Grissom all garnered 4 points apiece. C.J. Anthony shot for 3 points and Chase Simerly hit a 2-point field goal.
“We came out ready to play, something I’ve been pushing for,” said Warren County Middle School Pioneer coach Isaiah Phillips.
The Pioneers were ready to play on both ends of the court, almost shutting down the offense of the Saints, limiting scoring to a trey by Silas Cross and a bucket and free throw by J.J. Pack.
WCMS will play Coffee County, again on the road, Thursday, Jan. 5, at 6 p.m.
