The Pioneers were thirsty for more than a Cherry Limeaid when they arrived at the Sonic Shootout. Warren County wanted more wins in Sparta.
In a premier matchup of 10-win teams, Warren County shot the lights out to defeat Clarkrange 80-59.
Chance Hobbs was a flame thrower against the Buffaloes, scoring a season-high 25 points and hitting six 3-pointers. Sophomore Irving Espinoza proved to be a powerful second option, scoring 21 points as Clarkrange lacked the firepower to keep up with the hot-shooting Pioneers.
“We’re a hard team to guard offensively,” said Chris Sullens shortly after his team moved to 11-2 this season. “Clarkrange is a really good 10-4 team. They’ve beaten some good team this year.”
The victory advances Warren County to the semifinals, where they’ll face Clay County at 5 p.m. The tournament is being held at White County High School.
