The Pioneers picked up a pair of wins Thursday night, sweeping visiting Franklin County in a doubleheader. Warren County won the first game 2-1 in extra innings, then prevailed 10-0 in six innings in the second game.
Hunter Adams delivered a game-winning hit in the eighth inning in the first contest. The senior hit a strong shot up the middle, allowing Trace Adcock - who singled to start the frame - to score.
Ryland Holder had two hits, both coming in innings where Warren County plated runs. Holder sparked the Pioneers with a single in the fourth Heath Kuykendall entered as a pinch runner for the catcher and ultimately scored on a wild pitch to make it 1-1. Holder added a single in the eighth, moving Adcock into scoring position.
Adams' lone hit was the game's biggest, while Adcock, Brooks Helton and Omari Harris added one hit each.
Braden Bottoms pitched two-plus innings in relief to earn the victory. Bottoms didn't allow a run after entering in the fifth inning for starter John Garrett.
In game two, the Pioneers plated seven runs in the first inning and added three more in the sixth to win with ease.
Senior Will Cantrell (two hits, four RBIs) and Ethan Smith (two hits, two RBIs) led the way offensively as Warren County improved to 10-15 overall. Harris also finished with two hits while Adcock, Holder, Helton, Adams and Kuykendall added one hit each in the blowout.
Garrett, Adcock and Kuykendall combined for the shutout. Adcock earned the victory by pitching four innings in relief.
