Logan Earls, pictured in Monday's action at Patrick Ramsey Field, had a huge day at the plate Saturday when Warren County walloped Sparta 17-5.

The Pioneers threw a hit parade Saturday to smash Sparta on the road. Warren County rolled up 13 hits to pound the White County Warriors 17-5 for its eighth win of the season.

Logan Earls led the way for the Pioneers, going 4-for-4 with three RBIs on an afternoon. Seniors Jax King and Hayden Collins also finished with two hits and two RBIs apiece as Warren County needed just five innings to pick up a mercy-rule win over its border rivals.

Collins led off the game with a triple to get the Pioneer bats cooking. They never cooled off the rest of the way. King and Earls had RBI doubles to highlight a four-run first, while Baler Melton added a sac fly.

After White County answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame, Easton Denning broke the tie for good with an RBI groundout in the second to make it 5-4.

Warren County would break the game open with a seven-run fourth inning, putting the run rule within range. Collins had a two-run double to kick things off, then Denning followed with an RBI double of his own to switch spots with Collins.

Aiden Miller kept things rolling on two outs, smacking a two-run double to score Denning and Alex van Vuuren and push the Pioneers ahead 10-5. King and Earls followed with back-to-back RBI hits before the fourth ended.

White County self-combusted in the fifth as the Pioneer offense was relentless. Four straight free passes started the scoring, then a fielder’s choice plated another before an error made it 15-5. Earls added the exclamation point by ripping a two-run single into left to give the Pioneers extra cushion.

Alex Tallent, who picked up the win by pitching 3.1 innings in relief, retired White County in order to end the game. Senior lefty JJ Jacobs (1.2 IP, 5H, 5R, 3K) had a no-decision in his second start.

Brayan Holguin also had two hits in the victory.
