Pioneers prepare for soccer season

Entering the third year of District 6-AAA, the Warren County High School boys soccer team is hoping this is the year the Pioneers can make it back to regionals for the first time in over a decade.With a core group of seniors returning, along with several new faces added to the mix, coach Todd Willmore and the Pioneers look like a team preparing for success.Whether the wins follow when the season begins Thursday, March 15, coach Willmore has already had lots of fun with his team.“They’re a great group of guys to coach,” said Willmore. “If we get direction and leadership from our seniors, we have the potential to be a solid team.”The senior class features 11 players, four of which return with the lion’s share of the team’s varsity experience.Forward Alex Serna returns for his senior season and has already attracted a number of colleges looking to add his services next season. Serna has been a scoring machine the past two seasons and will be the Pioneers’ top option on offense this year as well.Midfielders Vulinh Pham and Jesus Gonzalez also started last season and could add to the Pioneers’ offensive firepower.
