Winning on opening night is a good way to start a season. Dominating a conference rival makes it even better. The Warren County Middle School baseball team started its season in style Thursday as the Pioneers pounded White County 12-0 in five innings.A.D. Majors picked up the win on the mound, tossing four scoreless innings, and added a solo home run to help the Pioneers have a big night at the plate.Majors’ solo shot in the third inning put Warren County up 4-0, then the floodgates opened in the fourth when the Pioneers scored eight more runs to end the game early. The fourth-inning rally was sparked by a two-run home run by Krojhn Calbert and a two-run double by Lucas Rogers.Coach David Martin, who saw his team extend its regular season winning streak to 10 games after finishing last season with nine straight victories, was proud of his Pioneers on opening night.“We threw it well, played good defense and swung the bats,” said Martin. “It was a good win to start the year.”The Pioneers started the game cold as White County was able to use an early miscue to put runners in scoring position.
