Pioneers lose in consolation round
basketball

An up-and-down season for WCHS Pioneer basketball was on the down side Saturday night in the district tournament consolation game in Shelbyville.

Franklin County pulled away in the second half to beat the Pioneers 64-39. It marked the fourth time this season Warren County failed to score 40 points.

Warren County could never find an offensive rhythm to finish as the No. 4 seed in District 6-AAAA. It means the Pioneers will play the No. 1 seed from District 5-AAAA, which will be either Cleveland or Walker Valley.

The Pioneers will be on the road for the region tournament with their first game set for this Saturday.

Sawyer Seymour was the top scorer for the Pioneers with 11. He hit three 3-pointers and two foul shots. Seymour had 18 in the district tournament opener. Seymour was named All-District and All-Tournament.

The Pioneers scored 4 points in the opening quarter, all by Kaden Desmaris, and could never shake the offensive blahs. Franklin County was up 44-23 entering the fourth.
