If the Warren County High School boys basketball team improves as much in year three under coach Malcolm Montgomery as it did in year two, the Pioneers could be looking at a breakout season. After winning just five games in coach Montgomery’s first year, Warren County moved the total to 13 and made its second straight trip to the regional tournament. The goals are much the same this year as the Pioneers have seven seniors, including five who started games last season.Warren County is led by senior guards Jacob Reagan and Mitchell McCorkle. Reagan was a second-team all-district selection last year while McCorkle was named to the honorable mention list.Forwards Hunter Adams and Hunter Daniel and guard Gage Myers also started games as juniors last season. Mac Britton was a steady contributor off the bench and coach Montgomery is hopeful Justin Ware can compete for minutes in the post after returning to basketball after a two-year hiatus.Juniors Kendall Rutledge, Nick Simmons and Tucker Smith all return after playing for the varsity team last season.
