Turns out, C.J. Taylor and Kaden Jordan are talented football players whether the game is in Tennessee or Texas.
The two Warren County High School seniors competed in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl on Monday and were on the winning team from the East. The East prevailed over the West, 36-17, in a game played at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, home of the Cowboys.
The two Warren County stars were accompanied to the game by WCHS coach Matt Turner, who was well-pleased with their performance.
“They got to play the majority of the game,” said Turner. “C.J. was on the starting defense and played awesome. It seemed they had three rotating offensive lines and Kaden was on the second wave, however he was on the field every scoring drive. C.J. probably had five tackles and at least four pass break-ups. Very good day for the guys.”
Turner added, “If there was a defensive MVP, C.J. would have gotten it. As for Kaden, I’m going to use this film to help promote his ability on the field.”
Taylor has grabbed local attention as the first Mr. Football in Warren County High School history. He won the honor last week after guiding the Pioneers to an 8-3 record, spending most of the season as a walking highlight. C.J. has made a verbal commitment to Vanderbilt, one of several schools which offered him a scholarship.
As an offensive lineman, Jordan doesn’t have the luxury of flashy numbers, but he was a vital part of the team on both sides of the football. His satisfaction came from delivering pancake blocks and the Pioneer offensive line dubbed itself The Syrup Squad.
The two Pioneers were among seven players from Tennessee on the East roster, which consisted of 64 players.
Jordan, listed at 6-foot-3, 295 pounds, was one of 10 offensive linemen. C.J., listed as 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, was one of 11 defensive backs, the position he’s expected to play in college.
