Patterson misses U.S. Open cut

The fairy tale run for Brett Patterson at the U.S. Open came to an end Friday. After posting a 7-over 78, which followed a plus-6 77 on Thursday, Patterson failed to make the cut at the Congressional Country Club course in Bethesda, Maryland.Patterson, a McMinnville native and upcoming sophomore at Middle Tennessee State University, qualified for the Open with a course-record 62 round 10 days earlier at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, Ga. Upon arriving in Maryland Monday, Patterson played three practice rounds before beginning the Open on the 10th hole Tuesday afternoon.Patterson’s first round began with a double bogey on the par-3, 10th hole.
