The fairy tale run for Brett Patterson at the U.S. Open came to an end Friday. After posting a 7-over 78, which followed a plus-6 77 on Thursday, Patterson failed to make the cut at the Congressional Country Club course in Bethesda, Maryland.Patterson, a McMinnville native and upcoming sophomore at Middle Tennessee State University, qualified for the Open with a course-record 62 round 10 days earlier at Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, Ga.
