Davenport signs with Bryan College

Katelyn Davenport has been playing golf since she was 4, when she took a trip with her grandfather to the course for the first time. Standing on the tee box in Palm Springs, Calif., Davenport fell in love with a game that will stick with her the rest of her life.Golf also will be helping Davenport pay for college as she signed a letter of intent Thursday to attend Bryan College on an athletic scholarship.Surrounded by her family, including her grandfather Earl Robbins, who made the trip from California, Davenport signed at WillowBrook golf course to attend the college located in Dayton for the next four years.Also in attendence was Davenport’s coach for the last four years, J.W. Holt, as well as her future coach Peter Bollant.Bollant spoke candidly about the school Davenport would be attending and the special feeling of seeing her sign the scholarship.“This is a very big day for all young athletes,” Bollant said Thursday. “We’re glad Katelyn is coming to Bryan College.
