If there’s a team that can beat Morrison Industries in boys 9-11 baseball at the Civic Center, that team has yet to materialize.
Morrison Industries kept its undefeated record intact Friday night with a 9-6 win over Fully Loaded Firearms.
Brayan Holguin pitched 3-2/3 innings to earn the victory for Morrison Industries. Nathan Elrod came in to record the final out.
Aiden Miller and Kyler Robinson pitched for Fully Loaded.
Leading hitters for Morrison Industries were Holguin, Elrod, Harley Hernandez, Ashton Forth, Kobe Cagle, and Ethan Basham with one hit each.
For Fully Loaded, Jax Patterson, Kyler Robinson, Luke Campbell, Jathan Bogle and Korey Smith led the way with two hits each. Conner Williams, Garryn Duggin, and Miller had one hit each.
Fully Loaded put together seven straight hits to open the game with a 2-0 lead. The inning could have been much bigger, but Fully Loaded was tagged out twice on the bases.
Morrison Industries answered with a hitting barrage of its own in the first inning to put six runs on the board. Basham came through with a two-out double to drive in two runs and make it 6-2.
That big first inning would prove to be the difference. Fully Loaded kept on hitting, but couldn’t make up any ground as Morrison Industries made just enough plays in the field to prevent a back-breaking inning.
