The Morrison Eagles 7-8 grade boys began their run at a state championship Monday night in Murfreesboro at the James C. Haile Invitational basketball tournament being matched up against a previously unbeaten team from Allons, Tenn. After three low-scoring quarters, the Morrison offense would open up and let loose in the fourth quarter for 17 points and hold Allons to 14 and leave Murfreesboro with a 40-31 victory in their first-round game. Ethan Smith and Irving Espinoza led Morrison with a combined 28 points to lead the Eagles against the tough Allons defense.Allons played a very aggressive defense against Morrison in the early going but the Eagles made the most of their opportunities and had a slight lead over Allons going into the half by a score of 14-9.
