The Southern Standard, partnering with R3 Logistics and Mud Bums Family Sports Grill, will be honoring a Pioneer of the Week throughout the year. Our honoree from Jan. 28 - Feb. 3 is WCHS Lady Pioneer Miranda Medley.
The outcomes didn't go the way Warren County would have hoped in last week's district battles against Shelbyville, Columbia and Coffee County, but the Lady Pioneers may have found a silver lining. Senior Miranda Medley seemed to find her scoring touch.
Medley was able to churn out 32 points over three games, leading the team twice in scoring. Medley had 11 points in the team's loss to Shelbyville last Tuesday and followed with 13 points against Columbia.
Medley really dialed in from outside, connecting on six 3-pointers during the battles. It's been her go-to shot for years and was on point at Charlie Dalton Gym.
She added two long-range triples in Friday's home loss to Coffee County, where she once played before moving back to Warren County High School.
Medley also averaged 2.5 assists over three games and shot nearly 50 percent from the field. Medley is now averaging over seven points per game this season for the Lady Pioneers.
The senior will look to continue her hot shooting later this week in games against Lincoln County and DeKalb County.
