McMinnville Funeral Home laid Auto World to rest in a Youth League game Tuesday in Morrison.
McMinnville Funeral Home earned the win, 10-5.
Auto World was first to bat but its offense stalled in the first.
In the bottom of the first, McMinnville Funeral Home’s Kristopher Robledo, batting one-handed because of an injured left hand, hit a solo inside-the-park home run to right field.
Then pitcher Harmoni Kennerly doubled and was brought home on a hit by Elijah Wanamaker. The score was 2-0 after the first.
Auto World got its offense in drive in the top of the second thanks to a solo inside-the-park home run by Peyton Rucker.
In the bottom of the third, McMinnville Funeral Home added more runs. Robledo hit a double and advanced home on throwing and catching errors. Kennerly had an infield hit and scored when Willow Kennerly put the ball in play.
Wanamaker, who had reached on an error, scored when Kennedy Ramsey got a hit to center field. McMinnville Funeral Home had a 5-1 lead after three innings.
In the top of the fourth, Auto World’s Madison Hillis got things started with a walk. Rucker then doubled to right field to put runners on second and third.
Faith Magouirk then ripped a shot that third baseman Chloe Wanamaker caught, before she doubled up Hillis at third base. McMinnville Funeral Home looked to be out of the jam, but then Matthew Breedlove and Hailey Reynolds reached base on infield hits. Lake Reed subsequently blasted an outfield hit that scored Rucker. Next, Jude Merriman put the ball in play, and after some throwing errors Breedlove and Reynolds crossed home.
McMinnville Funeral Home held a 5-4 lead going into the bottom of the fourth and added to the lead.
Cooper Murphy reached on an error, Micah Fleming had an infield hit, and Chloe Wanamaker brought them both home with a rope to center field. Robledo reached on an infield hit, and then he and Wanamaker scored when Kennerly sliced a double to left field. Finally, Elijah Wanamaker got a hit to score Kennerly.
McMinnville Funeral Home had a 10-4 advantage going into the top of the fifth that Auto World could not overcome.
