Lady Pioneers putting together impressive season

WCHS Lady Pioneer Emily Mikkola gets a hit during season play this year. The Lady Pioneers have gone undefeated in the district so far.

With all the inclement weather, the WCHS Lady Pioneers are scheduled for three home games in a row, after having squared off with Stone Memorial on Thursday night, weather permitting.
While it is a fast-paced schedule for Warren County, it’s an opportune time for fans to come out and support the team, which is undefeated in the district, 5-0, currently.
So far this season, besides lighting up the district scoreboard where it counts, the Lady Pioneers have an 8-3 overall record.
Neva Tackett, who signed to play at Motlow next year, leads the Lady Pioneer batting average statistics with an overall .526 and a combined on-base percentage plus slugging percentage of 1.256.
Ashton Whiles is close second overall hitting for a combined average of .486, while Whiles has a higher OPS of 1.326. Hailey Wood’s combined overall average is .436 with an OPS of 1.111 and Skyler Youngblood is batting at .429 with the highest OPS of 1.429.
Overall the Lady Pioneer bats have generated a team overall average of .353 and OPS of .928.
The Lady Pioneers have been dominating in the circle as well with their top two pitchers being Whiles and Maddie Cantrell. Whiles is an all-around leader with an ERA of 2.710 throwing for 31 innings and accumulating 32 strikeouts. Cantrell has a 2.243 ERA, throwing for 34.1 innings and garnering 9 strikeouts.
Besides being a big bat for the Lady Pioneers, Tackett leads in fielding stats grabbing a .984 FPCT off 63 total chances. Emily Mikkola, with 55 chances, has a .855 FPCT, Wood is at .865 off 52 chances and Lexie Chadwell stands at .864 with 44 chances proving Warren County has both sides of the field covered.
Upcoming home-field challenges for Warren County are Friday, April 21 vs. Coffee County (non-district game), Monday, April 24, Stone Memorial (district game) and Tuesday, April 25 vs. Cumberland County (district game and senior night). Games begin at 5 p.m.
